幸好，
关于北京余震的传言并没有变为事实。
否则，今天，
或许我们也已满脸血污，
慌恐于新闻图片之中，
或者大睁着双眼，
黯然于断壁颓垣之前。
We were fortunate.
Beijing was rocked only by rumors of aftershocks that never came.
But elsewhere,
Perhaps our faces would have been covered in blood,
Like those in the news photos,
Eyes wide with panic and fear,
Hearts torn apart by the loss of everything they own and those they love.
我们是幸运的。
不必面临丧失至爱亲人的悲恸，
不必面对万户萧条的惨景。
We were fortunate.
We do not have to face the loss of loved ones and friends,
We do not have to feel the pain of the 10,000 who are gone forever.
可是，就在昨天下午，
我们身处其中的大厦，
分明在与数千公里外他们的家园，
一同惊惶摇摆。
However, just yesterday afternoon,
We were at our desks, just as they were,
Oblivious, thousands of kilometers away,
Far from the horror that consumed them.
可是，
或许就是你身边忙碌着的同事，
或许就是你中午去的那家饭馆的厨师，，
或许就是你在电梯里常常碰到的漂亮姑娘，
或许就是每天为你清理纸篓的那位阿姨……
很可能，他们中的一些，
正牵挂着至今困守灾区的朋友、爱人，
还在为仍然杳无音讯的父母、亲人而忧心。
However,
Perhaps, the colleagues busily moving about you,
Perhaps, the chef at the restaurant near your home,
Perhaps, the beautiful girl you often run into in the elevator
Perhaps, the maid who takes out the trash after you have left…
Some of them, or maybe all of them,
Are concerned about the disaster areas, worried about friends or lovers,
Are still fighting back tears for lost parents and relatives.
请设想一下——

Imagine –
If when you go home tonight,
